Vanessa Gutiérrez’s work is grounded in a sharp, contemplative observation of the everyday. Her life experience — shaped by a childhood divided between the United States and Colombia, and by a transition from urban environments to rural landscapes — sparked a deep reflection on contrasts: presence and absence, anonymity and intimacy. She is drawn to those brief moments when two lives intersect in space — a glance, a gesture, a silent crossing — that, though fleeting, contains an entire narrative.

With over a decade of experience in commissioned work, personal projects, and exhibitions, Gutiérrez develops an intimate, poetic body of work deeply connected to the human condition. Her line, precise and full of humanity, does not aim to simply depict the figure, but to reveal it; not to capture a moment, but to transform it into permanence.

La obra de Vanessa Gutiérrez se fundamenta en una observación aguda de lo cotidiano. A través del dibujo figurativo, explora la fugacidad de los encuentros humanos y la profundidad de lo aparentemente banal. Su sensibilidad hacia los cuerpos en tránsito y los rostros anónimos revela una pulsión por detener el tiempo y otorgarle permanencia a lo efímero. Cada figura trazada es una presencia convocada, una memoria visual de lo que pudo pasar desapercibido.

Su experiencia vital —marcada por una infancia dividida entre Estados Unidos y Colombia, y por el tránsito entre el entorno urbano y el rural— activó en ella una reflexión sobre el contraste entre la presencia y la ausencia, el anonimato y la intimidad. Le interesan esos instantes en los que dos vidas coinciden brevemente en el espacio: una mirada, un gesto, un cruce silencioso que, aunque fugaz, encierra una historia entera.

Con más de una década de trabajo entre encargos, proyectos personales y exposiciones, Gutiérrez desarrolla una obra íntima, poética y profundamente conectada con la condición humana.
